How to Choose the best matching texture

But before you choose your new treasure, let’s walk through a few simple steps to make sure you get the perfect texture for your hair. Because when you choose right, the results are seamless, stunning, and oh-so-natural.
Step 1: Decide your install style
Are you planning a flip-over sew-in? A half-wig install? Or maybe a traditional sew-in?
Knowing your style first makes it much easier to figure out which texture will blend best with your natural hair.
- Flip-over sew-in / Half wig: You’ll leave out about 3–4 cm of hair in the front to blend with your extensions.
- Traditional sew-in: You’ll leave out 3–4 cm around the perimeter (and maybe a middle part if that’s your vibe).
Step 2: Focus on the right hair section
Here’s a little secret: your natural hair can have different textures in different spots. The front may be finer, while the sides or back may be tighter or coarser.
But for choosing the right texture, focus on the front section and the middle (“the bomb area”). This is the part closest to the track of your weave the area that must blend seamlessly.
Why not the ends? Because the ends are easy to blend into the weave with a brush or products. But if the roots and middle texture doesn’t match, it won’t look natural.
Step 3: Define and observe your curls
Before choosing, define your natural hair with your favorite curl product and let it air dry completely. That’s when your real texture shows up no heat, no manipulation, just your authentic curls.
That’s the curl pattern you should match your bundles or wig to.
Step 4: If you’re transitioning or have heat damage
Blending gets trickier when your hair is in between textures. Maybe you’re growing out heat damage or transitioning back to natural.
It’s tempting to choose hair that matches your ends (since they might look “cuter”), but remember ends change as your natural curls grow out. To avoid frustration later, always match your middle and bomb area instead of just the tips.
